Terms of Service

Last updated 15 September 2026.

In short: AlkaLabs sells access to an API that republishes public open data from sources whose terms permit automated access. You pay monthly, you can cancel any time, and you are responsible for how you use the data once you have it.

1. Who we are

AlkaLabs is an independent software business operated as a sole trader by Igor Lima, resident in Brazil. "We", "us" and "AlkaLabs" refer to that business. "You" refers to the person or company that subscribes to the service.

2. What the service is

AlkaLabs operates a hosted API that collects publicly available open data from government and public-sector portals, normalises it into a consistent structure, and serves it over HTTPS. The catalogue of available sources, the response format and the current limits are described on our website and in our documentation.

We do not own the underlying data. We provide access, normalisation, documentation and availability. Where a source requires attribution, that requirement is passed through in our responses and you must honour it.

3. Accounts and credentials

API credentials are issued to you after your first successful payment and are personal to your subscription. You are responsible for keeping them secret and for all use made of them. Tell us promptly if you believe a credential has been exposed and we will issue a replacement.

4. Acceptable use

We may suspend access that is causing operational harm to our service or to an upstream source. Where circumstances allow, we will contact you before suspending.

5. Payment, renewal and cancellation

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance in US dollars, and renew automatically until cancelled. Taxes applicable in your country are calculated and added at checkout.

Payments are processed by our merchant of record, who acts as the seller for the transaction, issues your invoice, and handles tax collection and remittance. Their name and details appear on your receipt and at checkout.

You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate partial months.

6. Refunds

If, within 14 days of a charge, the service has not done what this site describes, contact us and we will refund that charge in full. Refunds are issued through the merchant of record that processed the original payment.

7. Availability and changes to sources

We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Upstream portals are operated by third parties and can change their structure, restrict access, or go offline without notice. When a source becomes unavailable or its terms change so that we may no longer serve it, we will tell subscribers of that source and, where it materially reduces what you are paying for, offer a credit or a refund for the affected period.

8. No warranty

The service and the data are provided "as is". We do not warrant that the data is accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose. The data originates from third-party public bodies and we do not verify its contents. You are responsible for validating data before relying on it for any decision.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost data.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will notify subscribers by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before it does.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, and the courts of the jurisdiction where the business is established have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer protection law in your country grants you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
